However, once their natural saponin coating is washed off, they are pale yellow and delicate in flavor. According to the Star-K: Quinoa is Kosher L'Pesach and is not related to the five types of chometz grains, millet or rice. However, because there is a possibility that quinoa grows in proximity to chometz grains and is processed in facilities that compromise its Kosher for Passover status, quinoa should only be accepted with a reliable Kosher for Passover supervision. Ancient Harvest Quinoa imported from Bolivia is certified kosher year round by the Star-K, but for use on Passover, Star-K P must be on the label.
